SAMARA, October 13 (RIA Novosti) – At least 13 people were killed and three injured in a head-on collision between a light commercial vehicle (LCV) and a minibus in the Volga area, rescuers said on Sunday.
Initial reports said 12 people were killed. One person later died in hospital.
Those injured are in critical condition, Samara Region police spokesman Sergei Goldshtein said.
An investigation continues. According to initial reports, a Toyota minibus drove onto the oncoming lane and hit a Mercedes LCV en route from Kazakhstan.
The minibus carried 14 men, all of them citizens of former Soviet republics.
Both vehicles fell into a roadside ditch and the minibus caught fire.
