MOSCOW, October 13 (RIA Novosti) – Over 8 kilograms (about 18 pounds) of marijuana were seized from a police officer in South Russia’s Rostov Region, local investigators said on Saturday.
The man, a junior officer with the canine unit of the Rostov-on-Don’s police, was driving a Chevrolet Lacetti when his car was stopped for a check.
“The cannabis drug, weighting more than 8 kilograms in total, was found in the trunk of his car and seized,” the regional police department said in a statement.
The officer was fired and faces up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
