MOSCOW, October 18 (RIA Novosti) – A naval task force from Russia’s Pacific Fleet will depart Saturday on a two-month tour of duty in the Pacific Ocean, a navy spokesman said Friday.

The task force comprises the Udaloy-class destroyer Admiral Vinogradov, the Irkut tanker and the Kalar tugboat.

“The group will leave Vladivostok, the Pacific Fleet’s main base, on October 19 to carry out a series of missions in the Asia-Pacific region,” Captain First Rank Roman Martov said.

Martov did not specify the nature of missions assigned to the task force, but said it would visit ports in Myanmar and South Korea.

The Russian vessels will take part in the Kormarine 2013 International Shipbuilding and Marine Exhibition during the visit to South Korean port of Busan on October 22-25, Martov said.

The Pacific Fleet currently has another two task forces, deployed in the Indian Ocean and in the Mediterranean.

The first one is led by the Varyag missile cruiser, while the second is part of Russia’s permanent naval group in the Mediterranean and includes the Udaloy-class destroyer Admiral Panteleyev and two amphibious warfare ships.
