MOSCOW, October 20 (RIA Novosti) – An early-morning bar fight ended in shots fired from traumatic weapons in St. Petersburg on Sunday, with police searching for the perpetrators, local investigators said.
According to the city’s Interior Ministry, police got an anonymous call about three young clubgoers who got into an argument with security at a bar in central St. Petersburg at about 5 a.m. Sunday morning.
Both the clubbers and security guards exchanged shots with traumatic weapons, the ministry’s press service said, adding that one of the club’s administrators plus one clubgoer were injured and sent to the hospital.
The suspects left and returned a half-hour later with friends, investigators said. Police on the scene tried to arrest the group of about eight people, but they got into a car, tried to run over a police officer, and left the scene, the press service reported.
Investigators said they are opening a criminal case for hooliganism into the conflict.
The area in downtown St. Petersburg where the shooting took place is heavily populated with nightclubs and restaurants. The same street was the scene of another shootout at the end of September, when a massive fight between two groups of young men ended with two local men wounded.
