WASHINGTON, October 21 (RIA Novosti) – Russian airline Transaero could one day boast that its fleet includes aircraft with the highest seating capacity of any commercial passenger jet in the world, when it receives the first of four Airbus A380s it has ordered in 2015, the company’s CEO told USA Today.
"Imperial Class is 12 seats, which are designed as suites," CEO Olga Pleshakova told the paper, describing Transaero's A380 layout. "There are 24 seats in business class – these are full-flat seats and all-around access. And 616 is for the economy, for the total of 652."
Most other operators flying the A380 have between 470 and 520 seats, the paper reported.
Pleshakova told USA Today that the A380 would be used on the “most-popular routes that have the highest passenger traffic…So it's Moscow to Thailand, Moscow to the Dominican Republic ... and also to Barcelona in Spain."
Pleshakova also suggested that the aircraft might be used on Transaero’s Moscow to Vladivostok route.
Transaero, which recently announced a partnership with New York-based carrier Jet Blue, has also ordered four of Boeing’s biggest passenger jet, the 747-8 Intercontinental. These will also be delivered in 2015, USA Today reported Saturday.
