MOSCOW, October 25 (RIA Novosti) - Police officers in Russia’s Volga Federal District have detained a 27-year-old man from the regional city of Ulyanovsk suspected of abducting his ex-girlfriend’s brother, the regional department of the Interior Ministry reported.
A 13-year-old teen went missing Thursday afternoon, and his mother turned to police for help. It turned out that the boy was held by his sister’s ex-boyfriend.
The man wanted to meet with his former girlfriend a month after they split, but she refused to.
“Then the suspect decided to resort to extreme measures - to kidnap her younger brother, threatening to use violence against him should she refuse once again,” the Interior Ministry department said in a statement.
“The abductor held the boy in a car for several hours, and was detained by police officers at a meeting with the 19-year-old sister of the abducted teen,” the statement said.
The suspected kidnapper faces up to five years in prison if found guilty.
