MOSCOW, October 26 (RIA Novosti) – Police in Russia’s turbulent republic of Dagestan have found a large bomb-making workshop apparently run by gunmen, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.
Police discovered the workshop in Dagestan’s city of Khasavyurt after a shootout on Friday, in which two gunmen were killed. Two 50-liter barrels filled with homemade explosives and weapons were found in the gunmen’s car.
Officers later uncovered a workshop with 13 suicide belts and two women’s wigs, which were used by the gunmen for “clandestine movement” while preparing for the terrorist attacks.
The workshop collapsed after police decided to detonate one of the bombs. The operation has prevented terrorist attacks which could have led to human losses, Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee said.
