MOSCOW, October 27 (R-Sport) – Olympic figure skating gold medalist Evgeny Plushenko said Sunday that he is in "excellent" health ahead of next year's Games in Sochi despite a series of injury problems over the past year.
Plushenko has not competed since January’s European Figure Skating Championships, when he was forced to withdraw with a back problem as he chased an eighth continental title.
“Everything's excellent with my health, I’m recovering,” Plushenko told R-Sport. “At the Olympics you can’t underestimate anyone. Every skater from the top 10 may win a medal at the Olympic Games. All the contenders are worthy, especially the ones from Canada, the U.S. and Japan.”
Plushenko, 30 is set to take part at the Cup of Russia Grand Prix next month, before arriving in Sochi for the national championships in December where a final decision on Russia's entrants for the Sochi games will be made.
