MOSCOW, October 28 (R-Sport) – Yuri Krasnozhan has been fired as coach of Terek Grozny football club after a disastrous start to the season, Chechen president and honorary team president Ramzan Kadyrov said Monday.
Krasnozhan led Terek for just 14 games, winning just one game and leaving the club 14th in the Premier League, one point above the automatic relegation places – unexpectedly poor form for a team that narrowly missed out on European qualification last season.
Krasnozhan "really did try, put in a huge effort, but it didn't work out," said Kadyrov, whose government owns the club, in a statement.
"The coach and the team did not find a common language. The game's there, but not the results," Kadyrov said.
No replacement has yet been chosen, the statement said.
It is not clear whether an interim coach will be appointed for Terek's next league fixture, at home to Krylya Sovetov Samara on November 4.
Krasnozhan's exit had been on the cards since Kadyrov blamed the coach's "unreasonable and illogical actions" for a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Ural Yekaterinburg on October 19.
