MOSCOW, November 2 (RIA Novosti) – A US drone strike has killed the leader of the Pakistani Taliban, the BBC reported Friday.
The British agency cited a high-ranking Taliban official as saying the strike targeted a vehicle carrying leader Hakimullah Mehsud in the mountainous North Waziristan province.
Four other people, including two of Mehsud’s bodyguards, were also killed in the strike, intelligence sources said, the BBC reported.
Mehsud became the head of the Pakistani Taliban in 2009, after his predecessor was killed in a US drone strike.
