Today pilgrims from neighboring regions and other countries come to the datsan to see the incorruptible body of the 12th Pandito Khambo Lama, who died nearly 90 years ago. He is believed to help everyone who comes to him to pray for help.
The datsan hosts major Buddhist events and daily rituals and prayers honoring the sakhyuusans, or protectors and guardians of Buddhism. Photo: A lion at the entrance to a temple in the Ivolginsky Datsan.
