A Moscow court upheld Wednesday a previous court decision to extend the house arrest of Russian opposition leader Sergei Udaltsov, who is accused of organizing mass disorder at demonstrations in the capital last year.

MOSCOW, November 6 (RAPSI) – A Moscow court on Wednesday upheld an earlier ruling to extend the house arrest of opposition leader Sergei Udaltsov, who is accused of plotting mass unrest at demonstrations in the capital last year.

The court rejected an appeal by Udaltsov’s lawyer, who had sought less strict conditions of confinement.

Left Front movement leader Udaltsov has been accused of organizing riots and using violence against police during a rally on May 6, 2012 in Moscow's Bolotnaya Square and of plotting to incite mass riots across Russia.

His alleged activities were shown on a documentary titled “Anatomy of a Protest” shown on the state-controlled NTV channel last year in which it was claimed that the opposition was organizing a coup using funds from abroad.

Udaltsov, who denies the charges, has been under house arrest since last February. On October 2, a Moscow court granted the investigation's motion to extend the arrest until next February.
