ULAN UDE, November 8 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian man caught with the remains of his neighbor’s dog in a saucepan could face a five year jail sentence for theft, Russian police said Friday.
The 28-year old man sneaked through his neighbor’s fence and killed the German shepherd with a knife, a police spokesman in the Siberian republic of Buryatia told RIA Novosti.
During an investigation after a complaint by the neighbor who could not find his dog, police said they found a saucepan full of dog meat in the man's house.
“As became clear, the suspect regularly used that sort of meat in his diet,” the spokesman said.
The alleged dog meat connoisseur could face up to five years in prison on theft charges, according to police.
