STAVROPOL, November 8 (RIA Novosti) – A man detained in possession of an explosive-laden vest in southern Russia said he had planned to detonate it outside the Turkish Embassy, a source close to the investigation said Friday.
Stavropol territory police said they found the vest while inspecting a plant nursery last month and detained the suspicious item's owner, who was not a local resident.
“The detainee told investigators that he had planned to blow up the Turkish Embassy in Moscow,” the source said, without elaborating.
Regional police refused to officially comment about the purported bombing plot.
