MOSCOW, November 15 (RIA Novosti) – Almost two-thirds of Russians never go to movie theaters, a poll carried out by the state-run Public Opinion Foundation showed Thursday.
Only 5 percent of respondents said they watch movies on the big screen once a month, while 16 percent said they do it twice a year and 66 percent claimed they never visit movie theaters.
A total of 81 percent of the respondents said they prefer watching movies on television and do this at least once a week.
According to the poll, 45 percent of Russians are fans of Soviet films, while 18 percent prefer modern Russian movies and just 14 percent like foreign movies.
The survey was conducted in June among residents of 480 Russian cities and towns. The statistical margin of error did not exceed 3.8 percent, the pollster said.
