PARIS, November 16 (R-Sport) - Vancouver Olympic silver medalists Qing Pang and Jian Tong skated to gold at the Trophee Eric Bompard Grand Prix in Paris on Saturday, beating some potential medal contenders for next year’s Winter Games in Sochi.

Pang and Tong skated a solid free skate to hold on to their advantage from Friday’s short program and win with a total of 193.86, three points more than Canada’s Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, this year’s world championship bronze medalists.

Pang and Tong are now assured of a place at next month’s Grand Prix finals in Fukuoka, Japan.

Third place went to Caydee Denney and John Coughlin of the United States, who had been fourth overnight but succeeded in scoring 184.01, enough to overtake out-of-sorts Russians Vera Bazarova and Yuri Larionov.

Later Saturday, the men’s, ice dance and women’s competitions follow.
