TBILISI, November 21 (RIA Novosti) – Georgia’s new prime minister took office on Thursday, a day after he and his Cabinet of ministers was approved by parliament.
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, 31, is a member of the Georgian Dream coalition, which swept recent parliamentary elections as well as the presidential vote last month.
He was nominated by his predecessor, Russia-linked billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, who had earlier said he would exit politics after the presidential election.
Garibashvili is a former interior minister, and that position is the only change in the cabinet’s composition.
Former Tbilisi police chief Alexander Chikaidze is the new interior minister.
