The hunt was held in compliance with all the traditions and rules of Russian hound hunting. First of all, hunt participants in historical costumes line in a row. The hunter’s job is to frighten away the animal. The hound-keepers then set the dogs loose on it. If participants do not want to watch the process of the prey being captured, hounds are set loose with a delay, giving the hare or fox a head start. That way the animal is able to flee with ease.
