MOSCOW, November 28 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Supreme Court upheld a life sentence Thursday handed down to a man who was found guilty of six counts of murder in a gun rampage in Moscow last year.

The court rejected an appeal filed by Dmitry Vinogradov's defense lawyer, who had claimed his client was insane and should be sent for compulsory treatment.

Vinogradov, 30, a Moscow lawyer, went into the office of the pharmaceutical company he worked for on the morning of November 7, 2012, and opened fire on his colleagues with two hunting rifles, killing three men and two women and wounding a fourth man, who later died in hospital.

Just hours before the shooting, Vinogradov posted a message on a social network setting out his homicidal agenda and expressing hatred for the human race.

Experts confirmed his sanity during the investigation into the crime.

Vinogradov was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code, including murder, attempted murder, and supporting extremism.
