MOSCOW, December 6 (RIA Novosti) – A man who tried to drive his car into the Moscow Kremlin on Friday afternoon has been detained and will undergo a drug test, police said.
Traffic near the Kremlin had been closed for a government motorcade, but the car slipped past a traffic officer and tried to drive through the gate of the west Borovitskoye Tower, Moscow traffic police told RIA Novosti.
A video posted on the Russian tabloid website LifeNews showed the car being rammed lightly by a police car before driving around in slow, erratic circles on the street outside the gate.
Police chased the car on foot and then in patrol cars during the 90-second video before successfully stopping the driver.
The suspect will undergo a medical examination including checks for drugs and alcohol, police said, without identifying the man or describing his motives.
LifeNews identified the suspect as Timur Abdulayev, 35, from Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan.
