MOSCOW, December 8 (RIA Novosti) – A man who attempted to drive his car into the Kremlin on Friday has been hospitalized to undergo a psychiatric treatment, Moscow police said on Saturday.
The driver of Volkswagen, whose name was not disclosed by the officials, was detained Friday after he tried to get through one of the Kremlin’s gates closed for traffic and collided with a police car.
A video posted on the Russian tabloid website LifeNews showed the car being rammed lightly by a police car before driving around in slow, erratic circles on the street outside the gate.
Police chased the car on foot and then in patrol cars during the 90-second video before successfully stopping the driver. It was not clear what prompted his actions.
On Saturday, the police said that the man was identified a Dagestan-born general director of an unnamed firm. He was taken to the police station and later hospitalized to a psychiatric institution.
