MOSCOW, December 9 (RIA Novosti) – Police in Siberia said Monday they had detained a woman on suspicion of stealing two jars containing chemically preserved conjoined twin fetuses from a local museum.

Officials in Russia’s Altai territory said that the alleged thief, a 32-year-old woman who they did not name, was detained a day after the fetuses disappeared from a museum in the city of Biisk. It was not immediately clear what had prompted her actions.

The woman concealed the jars under her coat while visiting a local exhibition of preserved human fetuses and organs with anatomical mutations, police said.

According to local media reviews, the show’s organizers wanted to demonstrate the dangerous consequences of alcoholism and drug use.
