VORONEZH, December 11 (RIA Novosti) – Five drug traffickers in Russia caught smuggling marijuana inside stuffed toys have been punished with prison terms ranging up to nine years, officials said Wednesday.
Police detained the men in the southern Russian city of Voronezh while transporting plastic bags of marijuana inside baby toys by road to Volgograd, about 580 kilometers (360 miles) away.
Almost four kilograms of the drug were discovered inside a teddy bear, narcotics police said in a statement.
A court in the Voronezh region sentenced four of the men to between 2.5 and four years in prison. The group ringleader was handed a nine-year jail sentence.
