MOSCOW, December 13 (RIA Novosti) – Two police officers were killed Friday in an operation to detain three suspected extorters in the Russian capital, the Moscow branch of the Interior Ministry said.
The killers opened fire on criminal investigation department officers on the Leningradskoye highway in the north of the city. The policemen died on their way to the hospital.
“Three men have been detained on suspicion of having committed the crime,” the Investigative Committee said.
In a separate incident Thursday, two police officers were injured in an operation to detain four suspected robbers in downtown Moscow. One suspect was killed and three others detained, including a crime boss.
