MOSCOW, December 20 (RIA Novosti) – Some 48 billion rubles ($1.5 billion) will go towards the development of fundamental science in Russia over the next three years, President Vladimir Putin said Friday.
He told the presidential council on science and education that the money would be invested via the recently created Russian Science Foundation.
Putin added that the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Foundation for Humanities would receive also considerable additional funds, with financial support for them tripling by 2020.
“Expenditures on science as part of federal target programs should focus on support of applied research, on creation of specific scientific developments,” the president said.
