ASHGABAT, December 21 (RIA Novosti) – The president of impoverished Turkmenistan has called on the country’s bankers to return holiday bonuses they have received this year, local media reported Saturday.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow has signed the decrees to reprimand ten senior executives of national banks. The list includes bankers from the Central Bank, Bank of Turkmenistan and Turkmenbashi Bank.
Turkmenistan’s banking system is dominated by state-owned banks. The only privately owned bank in the country is Rysgal Bank, which was launched by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in 2011.
