MOSCOW, December 24 (RIA Novosti) – The two members of the punk group Pussy Riot released from jails under presidential amnesty on Monday met in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk on Tuesday after they were freed.

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina were reunited after serving nearly 21 months of a two-year sentence on hooliganism charges, according to pictures published on Twitter. Tolokonnikova had been imprisoned near Krasnoyarsk.

Alyokhina, who was serving her sentence in a penal colony near the central city of Nizhny Novgorod, travelled to Krasnoyarsk via Moscow, Tolokonnikova’s husband Pyotr Verzilov said in his Twitter feed.

The two women were jailed in 2012 for performing a “punk prayer” criticizing the Kremlin in Moscow’s main Christ the Savior cathedral.

They had been due for release in March 2014, but were let out on Monday under a presidential amnesty marking the 20th anniversary of the Constitution.
