MOSCOW, December 25 (RIA Novosti) – Relations between Russia and the United States have entered a state of stagnation with no progress reached in several key aspects, a Russian deputy foreign minister said Wednesday.
“To describe the situation in one word, our relations are experiencing ‘stagnation,’” Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
“Unfortunately, there has been no desired amount of progress – in fact, no progress at all – in the missile shield issue and a number of other arms control aspects,” the diplomat said.
According to Ryabkov, the two states had managed to achieve progress toward solving certain issues of regional importance, such as Iran’s nuclear program and Syrian chemical disarmament.
