PYATIGORSK, December 27 (RIA Novosti) – At least two people were killed on Friday when a car exploded in front of a traffic police building in Russia’s southern city of Pyatigorsk, in the restive North Caucasus region, investigators said.
A senior official with the local branch of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Yekaterina Danilova, said the blast had killed two people.
A local police source had earlier told RIA Novosti that three people were killed in the blast: the driver of the car and two passengers, presumably police officers.
That official said the blast damaged four other cars parked nearby as well as the facade of a cafe.
The site of the blast has been cordoned off by police investigating the incident, the police official said. The exact number of victims is still being determined.
