MOSCOW, December 29 (RIA Novosti) – Over five dozen people were poisoned at a corporate holiday party at a tourist resort in Siberia, the regional Emergency Situations Ministry said Sunday.
Sixty-five people complaining of intestinal pain and indigestion sought medical help after the company took its employees to the Tyoshchin Yazyk tourist resort in Russia's Yakutia region to celebrate the New Year, the ministry said in a statement.
Doctors diagnosed the victims with acute intestinal infection and hospitalized 21 of them, the statement said, noting that all the patients were in satisfactory condition.
The ministry said that Russia’s state health and consumer rights watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, was investigating the source of the poisoning and has temporarily closed the resort’s café.
