MOSCOW, December 31 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian man who went a crime spree – murdering, raping and robbing multiple people in Russia’s Ural Mountains within six weeks of being released from jail for a previous conviction – has been sentenced to lifetime imprisonment, local authorities said Tuesday.
Investigators in the Russian city of Perm said that the 30-year-old local resident robbed and killed another man in a drunken brawl on June 13, less than two weeks after being released from prison.
The ex-con then proceeded to rob five women in the city over the next month, killing four and raping three of them, investigators said in a statement
Investigators said that in June he also swindled another local resident out of property worth 20,000 rubles ($600).
Police caught and arrested the man in mid-July. Investigators said in the statement that police had interviewed more than 50 witnesses and victims, and that the case documents comprised 10 volumes.
Investigators did not reveal the man’s name or why he had previously been imprisoned. Some media outlets identified him as Boris Koshcheyev.
