MOSCOW, January 7 (R-Sport) – The International Swimming Federation (FINA) on Tuesday named three-time Olympic champion Svetlana Romashina as the best synchronized swimmer of 2013.
At August's World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, the 24-year-old triumphed in the technical and free routines in both the solo and duet events, along with Svetlana Kolesnichenko.
This is Romashina's second FINA award after she shared the title with her teammate Natalia Ishchenko in 2011.
The other prize winners were U.S. swimmers Ryan Lochte and Katie Ledecky, Chinese divers Chong He and Zi He, high divers Orlando Duque and Cesilie Carlton, water polo players Denes Varga and Jennifer Pareja and open water swimmers Thomas Lurz and Poliana Okimoto.
