KIEV, January 8 (RIA Novosti) − A fire broke out Wednesday at a plant in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkov leaving at least eight people dead and seven injured.
The fire, allegedly caused by unspecified safety rules violations, caught the five-story industrial building on the territory of the Khartron plant leased by a Kharkov jewelry factory Wednesday afternoon, the emergencies situation officials said.
Some 200 people were working inside the building when the fire broke out. Six of the injured were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning.
Ukrainian prosecutors launched a criminal probe in connection with the incident.
