KIEV, January 17 (RIA Novosti) – Penitentiary authorities in Ukraine have rejected a request by jailed former prime minister and opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko to let her leave prison occasionally, UNIAN news agency reported Friday.
On December 30, Tymoshenko lodged a request with prison officials to allow her move freely in Kharkov, the city where her jail is located, the agency said.
Tymoshenko’s lawyer, Andriy Kozhemyakin, said anybody that has served one-third of a prison term is by law entitled to apply for less strict rules of confinement.
