YAKUTSK, January 20 (RIA Novosti) – Residents of a remote Siberian town are feeling cold inside their homes because of central heating problems, a regional official said Monday.
Outside temperatures in the town of Srednekolymska in the Sakha Republic are currently around minus 48 degrees. Residents say their homes get no warmer than plus 10 degrees because of the malfunctioning heating systems, the official said.
Home heating systems in urban areas in Russia are typically maintained and powered by the state, which regulates temperatures in line with the weather outside.
