MOSCOW, January 22 (RIA Novosti) – The deputy prime minister of Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan has been detained on suspicion of large-scale fraud, Russian media reported Tuesday.
Magomedgusen Nasrutdinov was detained Sunday at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport upon his arrival from Dagestan’s capital, Makhachkala. Investigators suspect him of illegally acquiring control over the republic’s gas network.
The official refused to answer investigators’ questions when apprehended.
Moscow’s Lefortovo Court ruled Tuesday to keep him in pretrial detention until March 16, RAPSI legal news agency reported.
