MOSCOW, January 29 (RIA Novosti) – Global postal company DHL said Wednesday that it is planning to resume deliveries to Russia after reaching an agreement with customs officials, the Prime business news agency reported.
A meeting took place on Tuesday between DHL representatives and Russia’s customs service during which the two sides reached a deal on aspects of the declaration process, DHL Russia executive Yury Shevchenko said, Prime reported.
A series of global express carriers, including DHL and FedEx, announced last week that they had scrapped shipments to Russia because of stifling new customs regulations.
DHL did not specify on Wednesday when exactly shipments to Russia might resume.
The announcement by the postal companies restricts the ability of Russian Internet users to buy goods from abroad, and has sparked fears that the country is tightening control over the expanding e-commerce market.
