MOSCOW, January 31 (R-Sport) – Abdul Razak, a midfielder for Russian football team Anzhi Makhachkala, has returned to the English Premier League, signing a short-term contract with West Ham, the Hammers announced Thursday.
The 21-year-old central midfielder moved to Russia from Manchester City in September, making 14 appearances for the turbulent republic of Dagestan’s struggling team. That was originally on a loan basis before Anzhi bought the player.
The Ivorian international, who made his Premier League debut at the age of 18, played just 10 games for Man City and had other loan spells with Portsmouth, Brighton and Hove Albion and Charlton Athletic.
Razak has been capped five times, making his senior debut in a 1-1 friendly draw in Russia in August 2012.
West Ham are currently fighting relegation and sit 18th.
