MOSCOW, February 1 (RIA Novosti) – Five Russian citizens have been detained by Polish and German police on suspicion of smuggling illegal migrants into Germany, the European Police Office said in a statement Saturday.
According to Europol, the group operated in several European countries and smuggled people by car through Poland to destinations in Germany.
The group is alleged to have smuggled more than 200 people at a fee of 1,500 euros each.
Two of the suspected criminals were arrested in Germany and three more in Poland in an operation involving more than 170 law enforcement officers.
Computers and mobile phones were also seized in the raids, the agency said.
