MOSCOW, February 3 (RIA Novosti) – Forty-nine people were injured when a roof collapsed at an Islamic religious school in southern Kyrgyzstan, a Health Ministry spokesman said Monday.
“According to our information, 49 people injured in the building’s collapse sought medical attention. Nineteen of them were hospitalized,” he told RIA Novosti.
Most of the injured suffered concussions, broken bones and bruises. Two in grave condition were transferred to another hospital better equipped to deal with trauma patients.
Kyrgyz media reported that the school was under construction and the unfinished second floor collapsed onto the congregation. A police investigation into the collapse was under way.
