Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry is requesting additional foodstuffs to feed a new breed of rescue worker: camels, donkeys and deer.

MOSCOW, February 3 (RIA Novosti) – Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry is requesting additional foodstuffs to feed a new breed of rescue worker: camels, donkeys and deer.

According to draft legislation posted Monday on the government’s legal information website, the ministry is requesting hay, oats, salt, rye and lichen to feed the new teams of rescuers.

The document asks for funds from the federal budget to cover 12 kilograms of hay, 2 kilograms of oats and 50 grams of salt for each camel every day.
It also asks for about 3 kilos of hay and a kilo of oats for each donkey, and a kilo of hay and a half-kilo of oats for each deer every day.

The animals will also be fed rye and wheat bread, as well as 6 kilograms of lichen per day.

In addition, the ministry plans to set up canine and horse centers across Russia by the end of March.
