KHABAROVSK, February 7 (RIA Novosti) – A man in Russia facing jail time for murder says he carried out the killing while drunkenly convinced he was acting out a scene in a computer game, prosecutors in the Far East region of Khabarovsk said Friday.
The suspected murder took place last February, while the 35-year-old man was visiting relatives in the village of Nizhnaya Monoma, in Khabarovsk Region.
At night, after an apparent drinking bout, he armed himself with two knives and broke into neighboring homes, stabbing dwellers into the chest, neck and head.
One victim died of 15 stab wounds. Another four people sustained severe injuries.
The suspect was detained shortly after the attack and taken into police custody.
He faces up to 25 years in jail if convicted.
The suspect told police he had no intention of killing the villagers and said he thought he was committing a “virtual reality” murder.
