Thick Fog Covers Olympic Venues

A thick fog rolled in on Monday morning, February 17, covering Sochi and delaying numerous competitions in the 22nd Winter Olympic Games.

The men’s biathlon race, delayed from Sunday evening until Monday morning, was once again postponed because of the overcast weather.

Snowboard cross competitions scheduled for Monday morning were also put off until a later date.

Warm sunny weather that lasted for almost a week in Sochi gave way to cold temperatures and precipitation.

Unlike the athletes in venues on the Sochi coastline, those in the mountains were not very happy about warm weather in February as snow started melting, turning ski slopes to slush.
