MOSCOW, March 3 (RIA Novosti) – North Korea reportedly fired two missiles into the Sea of Japan on Monday, adding to a series of warning shots that have come as the South engages in annual military exercises with the United States.
The North has fired at least six short-range Scud missiles from its southeastern region since Thursday, the South’s Yonhap news agency reported.
North Korea, one of the world’s most reclusive and isolated nations, has claimed that it views the joint US-South Korean military exercises as preparations for an invasion.
Tensions between the two Koreas escalated last year as the North test-fired several missiles and conducted an underground nuclear detonation.
