MOSCOW, April 2 (R-Sport) - Spartak Moscow have submitted documents to the Russian Premier League referring to Dmitry Gunko as the permanent head coach, the league said Wednesday, two weeks after he was named as the club's caretaker boss.

Gunko, a former reserve-team coach at the nine-time Russian champions, was promoted to the interim job after the club fired Valery Karpin following a poor run of form last month.

Club owner Leonid Fedun said last week that Gunko would remain at the helm of the rest of the season, and the Russian Premier League said on Twitter on Wednesday that Spartak now refer to him as their permanent coach.

The appointment of Gunko was a dramatic change of course from Spartak, who had seemed set to bring back Stanislav Cherchesov, a coach who led the club to second in the league in 2007.

Gunko's first two games in charge have been a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of FC Krasnodar and a 0-0 draw at Lokomotiv Moscow, leaving the club in fifth, seven points off Lokomotiv's lead.
