MOSCOW, April 17 (RIA Novosti) – Iran has neutralized half of its highly-enriched uranium stockpile, according to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) quoted by the Associated Press on Thursday.
The confidential report was distributed to the members of the UN nuclear organization.
In February, the IAEA reported that Iran’s stockpile of partially-enriched uranium hexafluoride dropped to 160 kilograms, a reduction of almost 20 percent.
The P5+1 group of world powers, which comprises the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, finalized a deal in January to ease certain economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for a temporary freeze on some aspects of the country's nuclear program.
