MOSCOW, May 12 (RIA Novosti) – Officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency are to meet Monday with Iranian envoys in Vienna ahead of a May 15 deadline for Tehran to make its nuclear program more transparent, AFP reported.
“IAEA and Iranian officials will meet on Monday in Vienna for further discussions within the Framework for Cooperation,” IAEA spokeswoman Gill Tudor said referring to a step-by-step plan adopted in November 2013.
Iran says it has already implemented the seven steps agreed between the IAEA and Tehran in order to allay the West’s fears and prove Iran’s nuclear program is not pursuing the manufacture of weapons of mass destruction.
Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog committee will meet in Vienna a day ahead of a fresh round of talks between the Islamic republic and a group of six international mediators – Russia, France, Germany, China, the UK and the US – on a broader diplomatic settlement that has been negotiated on and off for a decade.
