MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev welcomed participants of the First Forum of Transportation Universities of Russia and China, which opened in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, and expressed confidence that exchanging experience will boost infrastructure in both countries.
“I am sure that exchange of advanced experience as well as joint efforts of our specialists will help boost development of transport infrastructure of our countries, execute in-demand projects in the fields of railway, highway, air and water transportation and road facilities,” Medvedev said, according to a statement posted on the Cabinet’s website.
According to the prime minister, cooperation between Russian and Chinese universities began in the 1950s, when Russian professors began lecturing at Chinese colleges, while thousands of Chinese students came to study in Russia. Today, transport universities maintain this tradition, Medvedev underlined.
He said that he supports long-term joint scientific activities of Russian and Chinese universities and wished participants of the forum interesting and productive work.
