MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) – The Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChelPipe) and CNPC subsidiary China Petroleum Pipeline Material and Equipment Corporation (CPPMEC), have signed a cooperation agreement, ChelPipe has announced.
The Russian and Chinese companies confirmed their mutual interest in working on pipeline projects in Russia and Central Asia. The agreement provides for bilateral cooperation for a period of two years, during which time the Chinese and Russian companies will regard each other as their primary partner.
"We are familiar with pipe products of white metallurgists in projects like Beyneu-Bozoi-Shymkent and Central Asia-China, Phase 3. CPPMEC experts purposefully studied quality certificates and technical documentation of ChelPipe for possible future cooperation,” CPPMEC Vice President Shi Jian said.
China’s CPPMEC has for ten years been successfully cooperating with the Rimera company, an oilfield service division of ChelPipe, which supplies fittings from Czech company MSA, according to Jian.
ChelPipe CEO Vitaly Sadykov said that before the end of July, MSA will supply CNPC with pipe fittings valued at more than $5.5 million for the Asia Gas Pipeline.
"The new agreement ... is of strategic importance. The companies have agreed to exchange experiences in the field of innovation and technology, the most effective use of competitive advantages for joint participation in international pipeline projects in Russia and Central Asia,” Sadykov said.
ChelPipe supplies materials and equipment and provides procurement services for the construction of oil and gas pipelines. The company also has extensive experience in international projects.
