MOSCOW, May 22 (RIA Novosti) - Global CEO Summit wants to turn into a permanent discussion platform of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) independent from formal international organizations, Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs told the Thursday.
"The fact that this year the G8 transformed into G7 doesn't mean that we cannot participate in discussing the global agenda. We talk not about Russia, but also business representatives of other countries that are not part of formal groups - neither G20, nor BRICS or anything else," Shokhin said.
He also noted that the Global CEO Summit is seeking to set up a platform uniting representatives of international companies in order to discuss universally important issues including trade, finance, employment, transparency, and energy security.
SPIEF 2014, held on May 22-24, welcomes about 6,500 guests, including more than 609 heads of major Russian and foreign corporations. Some 75 countries have sent official delegations to participate in the forum. The theme of the forum this year is "Building trust in an era of change."
